Some of us may be pretty sure we know what we’re doing. But do we? Major platforms like Facebook always start out as one thing and morph into something else. I never have “gotten” Facebook. Most know I’m there – but it just hasn’t been “my thing”.
Now I “get” Facebook because of Gary.
And the FB I “get” isn’t the FB I started on.
I want you to really “meet” New York Times best selling author Gary Vaynerchuk aka @GaryVee because the way he has promoted his latest book is beyond brilliant. I have never seen anything like it. And he comes up with a new twist what seems like every day. It is amazing.
Who is Gary Vaynerchuk?
I want to share with you this video because it is the best I’ve seen that quickly reveals who Gary is and why he knows so well what works and where social media is going.
This is an interview about his previous books Crush It and The Thank You Economy. Actionable Books TV did such a great job with the lead-in it provides the perfect introduction.
In a hurry? Just watch the first 30 seconds:
Now that you know who Gary is, believe me when I tell you the examples in his latest book Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook (JJJRH) will increase your effectiveness on social media – and make it easier than what you’re doing now.
“The key to social marketing is micro content” ~ Gary Vaynerchuk
If you use Facebook – and we all have to because that is where the most users spend their time – you really need to have this book. For the examples. As soon as you see them you’ll realize – as I did – why FB just isn’t working as well for you as it could.
It struck me that Facebook feeds should now look more like our Pinterest boards: mostly image with very little text. But not just any image – or any text. And with your strategically placed logo included.
@GaryVee’s examples make what we need to do on Facebook crystal clear.
No amount of explaining could make this concept clear. You need to see the case studies in JJJRH. I know the owners of two elite agencies who make Facebook their primary focus. I knew they were getting great ROI from Facebook and loved it – but Facebook just didn’t “do it” for me.
Less than an hour with Gary’s book and I suddenly “get it”. You will immediately realize that every FB post must be carefully planned for maximum virality (yes, that actually IS a word) and interaction. Gary shows you how. It isn’t hard; just different.
Gary makes it clear what “native” content looks like on
Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, and Instagram.
He shares the right way to trendjack Twitter hashtags. He touches on where G+ is likely to go – and how Google Glass could change everything. He covers how LinkedIn is working hard to become the social platform for long form content where business gets done. He shares his thoughts on Vine, Snapchat, and Instagram Video.
This book is an easy read. You could even just look at the pictures and that alone will improve your social media marketing results. Most are still not using social media well. Why you should.
Early Adopter Advantage
Those who get serious about learning to maximize their results earliest reap the most rewards. Platforms always become more expensive to use over time. Social media is NOT a fad. It won’t go away.
You don’t have to believe me. Listen to Gary on how Facebook has changed and the future of Social Media:
I agree with Gary on what platforms are important and will still be going strong in five years. I feel even stronger than he does that Tumblr is the one he covers in his book that may have a shorter future. All the others you MUST consider if you are serious about marketing.
Gary’s book JJJRH is a shortcut. It is a visual way to SEE what kind of micro-content you should be sharing where. Whether you’re a wordsmith like me or a visual learner, you will get what you need to know from Gary’s book. Available in hardcopy and Kindle editions.
You can order #JJJRH and his previous books from your favorite
online bookstore by clicking this link to Gary’s book page.
Disclosure: I was fortunate to be sent an advance review copy of Gary’s book. That is not the reason I’m writing about him here, though. Even if I didn’t have his book I would have been writing about the unique ways he has been promoting it. You can see them on @GaryVee’s “buy the experience” page.
