The Value of Tradeshows and In-Person Marketing

June 8, 2015 By Oscar King 11 Comments

While some tech platforms and gadgets have tried to replicate the effect and feel of trade shows and the value it brings, none have succeeded. Trade shows remain an effective avenue for businesses with similar interests connect, network and help each other succeed.

Staying Current

Having current and accurate information can be the difference between a seven figure a year business and an eight figure a year business in the same industry. For this reason, many people attend trade shows to keep up-to-date with the latest products and businesses developments.

Effective for Lead Generation and Drumming Up New Business

This is how many businesses drum up new business, sign up new clients. and get potential customers’  contact information for lead generation. Leads generated from exhibitions are often warm leads that when properly nurtured and followed up on have higher chances of being converted into clients and buyers. Make sure that you never attend any trade show unprepared.

Provides an Avenue for Industry Networking

Meeting hundreds, if not thousands, of people in the same industry who are as passionate about the industry as you is a rare opportunity outside of a trade show. Trade shows and exhibitions provide an opportunity for industry-wide networking.

Contacts generated from these events can lead to rewarding business relationships and long-term strategic partnerships. Luckily, most organizations know this. This is why they tend to send good company advocates to represent them at events.

Helping Make Informed Buying Decisions

Many decision-makers prefer meeting with sellers in person because it helps with their assessment. Yes, they could use Skype for business or conference calls, but that is not always enough.

In fact, many people clearly state that in-person meetings during the phases leading up to a purchase are an extremely important part of their vetting process. This is because it makes it considerably easier for them to evaluate, investigate and analyze a product before making a decision. It’s a chance both for hands-on experience with a product as well as establishing or bolstering business relationships.

Making an Impression

Your success at the trade show is largely tied to your visibility — after all, that’s exactly what you’re there for in the first place. Your booth and displays must be attractive and well-designed. Additional signage or banners should be designed and placed to direct the flow of traffic into your display. If you need custom banners and trade show displays for your next show, or if the ones you’ve got don’t draw the eye, check out http://qualitysigndesigner.com.

When people visit your booth, be professional, confident and savvy about your products and services. At that moment, your audience is sizing you up and making decisions based on what they’re seeing. The impression you give them could well forge the partnership that takes your business to the next level.

Your points about professional presentation are well warranted. Appearing as an informative, confident, and capable representation of your company is essential and should require preparation when needed, just as any essential step in a marketing plan would require.

Taking products to show off at trade shows and conventions is a great way to get your company’s name out there. Like you said, it is a great chance to make an impression in the industry and network with other companies. Whether it is public or invite-only, trade shows are one of the best ways to stay current, especially in the tech industry.

      Hi Callie Marie,

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I haven’t been in years, but I found attending Internet Retailer in Chicago very beneficial. Companies looking to expand really need to get a booth and give away something memorable as a promotional product – ideally something very useful so it stays in view!

Seems I’ve been missing some great opportunities here since I’ve never appeared in a tradeshow promoting my business.

Time to study this channel in depth and make more leads warming up the clients!
