Social Media Analytics, The Book is Live on Amazon.com

July 27, 2011 By WebMetricsGuru 43 Comments

This is a guest post I requested from Marshall Sponder (@WebMetricsGuru) who is THE go-to guy for Social Media analytics. He is the only person I’ve found who can compare the many social media monitoring solutions to each other which is essential for selecting the right one for your business from the start.

If you want to read the latest thoughts on Social Media Analytics and how to make an informed decision by disambiguation of signal from noise then read my book on the subject that just went live on Amazon.com yesterday (24 days ahead of schedule).

A Summary of what is in Social Media Analytics, The Book, can be found at the Monitoring Social Media blog.

But if you really just want to order one, just mosey over to Amazon.com and get a copy within a day or two.

And if you want to get a sample of what’s in the book, and can’t wait a day, sign up for my Webinar on August 25th with Awareness Network which deals with how to measure the effectiveness of your online content as well as how to improve it in order to make it more effective.   By signing up for the Webinar, you get Chapter 9 of Social Media Analytics as a download.  Also, if you want to learn a little bit about how to measure Influence, which is the subject of Chapter 6 of my book, you get a taste of Influence by reading this post at Monitoring Social Media blog.

Finally, if you are reading this from New York City, or will be in New York on August 18th, you’re invited to the first book signing for Social Media Analytics – and here’s the information on the book signing. Providence, RI, London, UK and Rome, Italy are not to be left out and there will be book signings there as well within the next sixty days, if not before.

But if you really can’t wait – there’s a preview on Amazon.com where you can read the testimonials, table of contents, introduction by Avinash Kaushik and my preface right now.

One favor I ask of you: once you buy my book, please write an Amazon Review for it, and if you like it, please also “like” the Amazon page.

I look forward to reading your reviews and answering your questions about The Analytics of Social Media.   Also, readers of this post should check out my WebMetricsGuru.com blog which is updated frequently with the latest information on Analytics that can fundamentally alter your way of looking at data.  I hope you’ll join me there.

Actually, I’m writing another book (text book) on Digital Analytics that will be published in late August by Routledge – stay tuned. I wanted to write a second edition on SMA for McGraw-Hill, but the publisher wasn’t on board, so I gave up on the idea.

      Hi Gina,

The book is useful as an overview of what types of Social Media analytics solutions are available; however, it is more applicable to solutions used by Enterprise and Fortune 500 companies than it would be for small businesses.

It’s very promising as it is a hardcover book, instead of all those e-book only offers on internet nowadays.

      Hi Dan,

I haven’t seen the book yet because it is not yet physically available (but will be any time now), but I do know that Marshall is the ONLY person I’ve seen that regularly compares the various social media monitoring and measuring solutions.

Most people choose one solution based on reviews at the time they make their decision and never look at any others because who wants to have the expense and set-up time and learning curve more than once? THAT is what I believe Marshall has to offer – insights very rarely found anywhere else.

Check out his blog and use the preview function on Amazon to see if this book is for you. I see you’re new on Twitter. You may want to check out my Twitter Best Practices which includes getting started videos and how-to posts and advanced strategies.

      Hi Michael,

It could just be me and some people I know, but it is not usually a good idea to call someone you don’t have a personally close relationship with ‘dear’. That is likely to get your comments deleted.

Hi Marshall, Congrats on publishing the book. I checked out the executive outline of the book on your site and have to say that I am really impressed. I have hardly seen anyone address some of the most important issues that you have raised (most notably: Where’s the ROI?, Friends, Fans, and Followers: Determining Their Worth). For businesses, social media is an investment and they need to have at least an idea of ROI before jumping into bandwagon.

You have definitely piqued my curiosity. I will check out the book at Amazon.
