As more and more social media sites find success, or start to fade like MySpace (sorry for the old logo), it becomes increasingly important to pick your social media plays carefully. Maybe even just to keep a sane workload, but mainly to be stategic.

I think that the most important thing is that the people involved in the social media effort are passionate about the brand/product. If it is just a job for them it comes across as fake.

Any business large and certainly the smaller businesses cannot ignore the huge growth in social media . Over 300images every minute are uploaded to Flickr, 250 million tweets are made every day Facebook has over 800 million active users. So it really is a case of getting your business onto these social media sites and make it work for you.

I guess we are observing how the old philosophy “build it and they will come” is falling into oblivion! If you want customers, you have no choice but embrace the social media.

Small Business can really benefit from Social Media. For starters you engage with your clients, potential prospects, pick up on any trends quickly and have some fun.

And better yet it only costs your time.

Indeed, social media is a powerful tool to promote business. But is it appropriate for all types of businesses? I get confused in this part when deciding if it applies to all. Definitely, it works for web services (blogs, forums, etc). I have been reading a lot of article on this topic as I am new to this area. Thanks for the great video!

It is an interesting idea to have a summit totally online like this. Social media can definitely benefit a business. I follow a few local restaurants on twitter and they sometimes send out coupons and such. It is a good way for them to remind people that they are out there.

As a person who runs a small business I feel that the social media is a great friend for us to have. I have used it to promote my metal cover business and am very happy to say that it has been a great blessing. Many people actually order online and it has helped the business have a better reach. I am looking forward to the Summit and to sharing my story with others there.

I watched Michael Stelzner’s video. While I thought it was interesting that it was shot outside while he walked around, I was also a bit distracted as I kept wondering where it was shot (somewhere in So Cal perhaps?)… I think he describes how big social media has become, but I wish he had explained how a business can actually PROFIT from it… I think even one real case study would have been nice, as I’m not sure if for most businesses that social media actually translates into profit. Anyway, I’ve resolved to learn more about it this year!

I have been a big fan of the social media and the way it works. My kids were on it for a long time before they suggested that I use Facebook and Twitter as places to network with old friends, family and potential business partners. I took to it last year and now I have a large number of business partner who are in my business only through online communication. I must say the social media has helped me by leaps and bounds and in a sense, I owe my business success to the social media.
