1. By creating a new email account

The safest way you can send anonymous email is by setting up a new account that has no relation to your original account. This method is popular among those who do not want anonymous email services. You can always sign up for Yahoo, Gmail, Outlook, etc. with a false name and a made up number.

2.  By creating a different alias

The Microsoft Outlook email service allows anyone to create their own aliases. Don’t get the wrong idea here; an alias is nothing more than a new email address for the same account. This way, it is more convenient for the user to take advantage of the benefits of their original account because they don’t need to sign up with a unique user ID.

3. By using AnonymousEmail.me

If you want to cut all the inconveniences of signing up to a new email, then consider using AnonymousEmail.me. This email service provider just needs you to enter the recipient’s email address, along with the subject line and content of the message you want to send. Since you’re not registering, there is no need to worry about anyone tracking the email.

Many websites don’t offer their own anonymous email accounts, so you need to save these addresses when you find them.

4. Using TorGuard

TorGuard is a free email service that lets you send anonymous emails. The service comes with many privacy and cryptographic features that help maintain 100 percent anonymity. You get a sizable amount of storage space after registering on the site for free, so why not make good use of it? Moreover, the PGP encryption technique helps in securing your inbound emails.

5. Using Send Email

If you need to send an anonymous message without running the risk of having an email traced back to your name, try the free Send Email service. It’s quick, simple to use, and doesn’t require any login or registration. It is similar to AnonymousEmail.me, but features a simpler user interface and offers more ease of use.

6. Use Secure Mail

Secure Mail is one of the best services you can use to send anonymous emails. The email service provider uses 4096-bit key encryption, which makes your inbound emails practically unreadable to anyone except you. You can also register on the website without providing any personal information or your IP address.

7. Guerilla Mail to the rescue!

If you have used Snapchat on your mobile phone, then you’re probably familiar with how the snaps disappear once you’ve viewed them. Guerilla Mail follows the same principle, with a system in place to self-destruct a message once the recipient has read it.

8. By using an anonymous remailer service

A service provider like W3 Anonymous Remailer allows users to send anonymous emails with an attachment for free. Since most anonymous email service providers only allow text-based messages, a provider such as this one certainly stands out from the rest.

9. Use a VPN service

HideMyAss is a world-famous proxy service you can use to access websites that are blocked in your region. The company also provides a VPN-based email service that does exactly what the name implies—letting you send emails anonymously without leaving behind any trails.

10. Using CyberAtlantis

Tracing IP addresses is next-to-impossible when you’re using a service like CyberAtlantis. This service offers you a fantastic tool that removes the IP address from the message you’ve sent. It has a simple user interface and requires very few details such as the recipient’s email address, subject, and the message.

Note from GrowMap Admin: It is probable that anything you do online can be traced back to you. We strongly caution that no one should use this information to do anything illegal or to harass anyone. While these services may make you anonymous to the recipient, it is likely that an expert could still connect your activities to you.

I found this interesting to read but I can’t help but think that there are better ways to approach things. Anonymous messages are always going to be treated differently to those from people who identify themselves. And if you’re sending an anonymous complaint, the recipient can’t get in touch to rectify the issue.

I think most of the time, it’s better not to be anonymous. If you can’t identify yourself when sending the message, you probably have to ask yourself some deep questions about your motivations and level of commitment. The exception being when you’re reporting a crime and don’t want to identify yourself in case the person or organisation you report wants revenge…

I’d love to see more information about use cases here, as maybe I’m not thinking broadly enough or am missing something really obvious…

I don’t really see a need for creating email accounts en masse, especially to send emails to randoms. Sounds like something which could be used for abuse, such as stalking and that’s certainly not a thing most people want to be delving in. The thing about GMail is they are requiring a new phone number to be added everytime you create a new email so it’s not like the old days when you could just make dozens of those. Also, could there be legal implications for sending anonymous emails? I guess it depends on what you are saying.

      Hi Junicia,

Yes, there are illegal and inappropriate reasons for wishing to send an email anonymously. But there are also some legitimate reasons. Whistle-blowing is one that was recently mentioned.

Send Email doesn’t work and Guerillamail sends ALL the information from your side to the recipient including your ISP and IP address. Btw, I’m not trying to harrass anyone. I need this because I’m a proud whistleblower, trying to save other students in my university from a sick sexual predetor in my school with a “professor” before his ugly name. So may I ask you to take anonymity more seriously? Not anyone who needs to say something anonymously is a sick troll cyber bully.

      Hi ‘M’,

This post has a lot of interest. Personally, I’m not sure whether there is any anonymous anything anymore. MAYBE there are encrypted ways, but I’m not convinced.

And I agree that there are valid reasons why someone would want to communicate anonymously. Whistle-blowing is certainly one of them. In spite of romanticized movies that often do not tell the real, whole story, whistle-blowers typically get demonized or worse.

So be careful and think hard before deciding what to do. Everything online is recorded. Audio calls on Skype are immediately converted to text. There can be cameras and listening devices almost anywhere.

The only privacy is out in nature (maybe). Regular mail MIGHT be usually not read or recorded. Unless someone is already targeted and having EVERYTHING opened and copied.

hi, secure mail seems to be the best option, but they need to be paid by wire transfer, so technically i am not anonymous anymore ? do you know of a similar company that either does that for free or to whom we can send a bankers check or cash. thank you

I tried several of these. They either don’t send the email, even though they say it has been sent, or they make you put in your return email and include that on the email. I verified this by sending myself an ‘anonymous’ email. It had the return address in it. They I sent one that had a fake return email and never got it.

This all looks like a scam to me. The only thing that really works is to create a dummy account, send the email and then delete the account.

I’d always send emails from my real account – unless playing a trick on friends 😉 – but dig the idea of setting up a new email addy. Clean, quick and easy to set one up to remain anonymous. Then you are free to email away without your buddy knowing of your identity. PS; avoid these strategies if you want to actually pitch something serious. Clowns email me regularly after I reject their $30 sponsored post offers, then email from a new addy asking for updates or bargaining. I junk every one LOL.

Good to see there’s still interest in privacy in these times of unlimited exhibitionism paired with ubiquitous surveillance.

IMO the most secure way to send mail anonymously is to run the OmniMix mail proxy server on your local computer. It strips all compromising header entries from your mail and forwards it hidden by the integrated Tor client to the Mixmaster remailer network so that nobody will ever notice that you’ve sent a message. OmniMix also makes it very easy to create truly anonymous mail accounts at free nym servers in case you need valid reply addresses.
