FraudLogix Merchant Affiliate Fraud ProtectionAffiliate marketing can be an important new source of sales for small businesses and ecommerce stores, but many are concerned about controlling affiliate fraud.

Fraudlogix believes their newly patented affiliate fraud prevention system is a better solution, claiming that it provides 93.7% fraud protection.

According to this FraudLogix Press Release, “Fraudlogix uses patent-pending technology, proprietary algorithms, internal database cross-checks and a world-class data infrastructure to detect affiliate fraud attempts that data verification and IP based systems are simply not capable of seeing.”

If concern over fraud is holding you back from starting an affiliate marketing program, why not contact FraudLogix or visit their Web site for more information. They will also be exhibiting at adtech new york Nov. 3-4, 2010. Visit them in booth 1802.

I will surely look into this!

Now more than ever it is so important to have yourself protected against fraud. When I look for companies that protect against fraud, what I do is basically ask them upfront if they had any incidents where there weren’t able to protect a client. I ask them how many reports they had of people breaking in there company. You just have to ask straight and forward questions.

I do not agree that most of them are fake. There are many real merchants who offer affiliate programs and many affiliates who generate legitimate sales. Unfortunately, there are always people who choose to cheat because it is easier to make money that way than ethically.

Affiliate marketing can indeed be an awesome SECONDARY source of income for those with small businesses/e-commerce stores.

9 x outa 10, if not more though, it should not be on the same site.

The fact is that there are many scams, but if this thing really works, I’ll take it now. But even if it works, fraudsters will soon find a way and to avoid it, so all that remains on the end is pure intuition of what is a scam and what is not.

Yes, there is a continuous cat and mouse game going on, but those who are most wise can find ways to protect themselves from the worst of it. The scammers will still take advantage of many unsuspecting victims.

      Hi Patricia,

This aspect of affiliate fraud is more important for merchants than affiliates, but it could become a factor in which merchants we choose to promote. When a merchant uses an Affiliate Manager that keeps out bad affiliates or the merchant finds a way to do that there programs are more beneficial for bloggers and affiliates.

There are a few things that we must ask ourselves??

1> is this for major affiliates or should even the novice affiliates jump aboard?

2> Will this increase the chances of getting the commission?

3> Would I have to still cloak my links to prevent affiliates from stealing my commission?

As you can see affiliates stealing is one of the hardest things to fight even for a lonely blog owner, so why would we want to pay a monthly or yearly for something that is yet really new??

We had recently been looking into affiliate schemes with one of the large affiliate windows and fraud was not something we had considered as a risk – we always assumed lack of control of where our products are advertised would potentially be the most obvious negative. Are / Has there been ways for affiliate partners to scam even the big affiliate service providers?

      Hi Tom,

There are some serious issues with affiliate marketing. You may want to read the post I’ll include in CommentLuv in this reply. The safest network for merchants is ShareASale because they are serious about keeping methods that allow affiliates to steal commissions they haven’t really earned out of their program.

Unfortunately, many of the other Affiliate Networks are happy to have them because they generate income for the networks too and most merchants don’t know how to look for these issues.

Many Affiliate Marketing Management companies are the worst offenders – again, because it is far easier to make money quickly by using methods that others like me believe are unethical (and that impresses their merchant clients who don’t know any better) than it is to honestly earn commissions.

There are many links on those two posts and I also recommend Kellie Stevens at Affiliate Fair Play as a source for information about what is fair affiliate marketing and what is unethical.

That could be true, sometimes there is no border between ethical and unethical things, and some programs just let fraud sales occur.
