Cloud Video Conferencing: The Next Step in Business Evolution

October 11, 2014 By Dana Davis 7 Comments

Cloud based video conferencing is definitely the way forward now, and it is most likely to help bring an evolution into the business world that we witness today.

The users of video conferencing can connect to each other no matter how far away they are by making use of any kind of device, including a mobile one. This fast growing technology will transform the way businesses communicate with each other.

According to a study that was conducted by Wainhouse Research as reported by Tech Radar, the number of solutions available in the world of video conferencing are immense and still growing. Many of these solutions are technology platform based.

Business Need for Face-to-Face Meetings

Businesses still require traditional face to face contact and communication in order to run smoothly and get things done. However, since more and more business travel is required for businesses to grow and progress, they are in need of a solution that will work to give them the same face to face interaction despite different geographic locations and time zones.

Visual conversation contributes to increased customer loyalty, sales, and response rates. It also plays an important role in making remote employees feel more productive and connected to the greater workings of your business.

The study conducted by Wainhouse indicated that around 61 percent of organizations want to include video conferencing in their business dealings and unify it with other communication platforms such as instant messaging, social media, and email.

If this technology is incorporated, it will definitely assist in revolutionizing how employees within a company collaborate and communicate with one another.

Certainly there are many options available to businesses when it comes to video conferencing. All they need to do now is to take advantage of this great opportunity so that they can jump far ahead of their competition.

Cloud Video Conferencing in Practice

Cloud based video conferencing encourages companies to come up with new methods of utilizing this new technology in order to enhance their productivity. That being said, this can be achieved without the need for spending huge amounts of money, especially when it comes to investments made in traditional infrastructure, as Wired discusses.

Making use of video conferencing with the help of the cloud has helped companies to achieve a variety of the most important business goals which can include:

  • Maximizing the video conference technology usage without the need for additional amounts of capital expenditure.
  • Providing real value to all of your business’s clients and project teams.
  • Ensuring that all employees are able to collaborate and connect regardless of where they are located or what device they use.

The Evolution of Business Communication

Business communication has evolved drastically over time. From simple face-to-face communication and letters to phone calls and text messaging to emails and finally to video conferencing, businesses now have a multitude of choices when it comes to communicating with clients and employees.

The latest generation of video communication is not only highly engaging but much more visually impressive, with HD quality and additional capabilities and features. As Clear One excitedly discusses, employees can now be a lot more collaborative and hold meetings with each other whenever they feel the need to, without having to go through the trouble of traveling to a different location for justone meeting.

When businesses make use of Blue Jeans video conferencing in HD, business owners can truly take advantage of a lot of benefits provided by this technology, allowing them to stay far ahead of their competition. Businesses also transform and evolve immensely with the help of this technology since they can use it to hire only the best employees, reduce travel costs, and frequency considerably, as well as conduct meetings whenever necessary.

Because of the benefits of the travel costs being reduced significantly, businesses can also hold a lot more meetings so that overall communication within the company and among its employees can be improved and the work is carried out far more effectively.

A law professor at the College of William and Mary, Frederick Ledener, was quoted by Social Barrel as saying that video communication would become much more massive within the next 30 years. He mentioned how people, both private and corporate, would be utilizing a lot more video solutions to carry out activities, more so than at any other time in history.

Now is the time to choose a video conferencing platform and start using it.  They are vastly more stable today than they’ve ever been and they are adding more advanced features and capabilities all the time.

The problem with GoToMeeting is that it is very old and requires attendees to download, install, and get it running. Many forget that because they’ve had it installed so long. Every time you change computers you’ll have to install it again. But the major drawback is that they are so corporate-centric that they STILL don’t support Linux users after all these years.

I could not attend any GoToMeetings or GoToWebinars for 12 years until I finally gave up on them ever supporting it and bought a used Windows laptop. Even though Linux users are a minority, many of the sharpest people I know use Linux.
