One of the most common reasons for using WordPress is to run a blog, but the WordPress  platform can also be used as a content management system (CRM) for business websites.

The best thing about WordPress is that it is really easy to use. Even if you know nothing about website designing or development, you can start using WordPress and do fine.

If your business has products or services to sell, you can easily make
your site ecommerce compatible by incorporating a good shopping cart.

Another great thing about WordPress is that you don’t need to have any knowledge of HTML or PHP to add a shopping cart in your blog. To keep things simple and make them easy, you can install one of these shopping cart plugins. While you can find some plugins for free, if you are looking for professional services you will want to go for a paid plugin.

Below are some of the great plugins that you can use to add a shopping cart to your WordPress blog very easily.

WordPress eCommerce Plugins

WordPress ecommerce plugin ShoppShopp

As stated above, not all plugins are free and “Shopp” is a premium WordPress plugin. If you want to use this plugin, you will have to pay a $55 single-site license fee. If you are a developer and need the same plugin for different sites then you can buy a developer’s license for $299. There are a lot of features that are added in this plugin like short codes, streamlined installation, drag and drop shopping, widgets, many payment options and much more.

shopping cart plugin for WPPHPurchase

This is another paid plugin that you can use with your WordPress blog. The standard version of this plugin will cost you only $49 but if you need a Pro version, the price will become $99. With the help of this plugin, you can convert your blog into a complete online store. Not only that it can help you manage sales but I can also track orders, keep shipping records and provide proper customer support. It has a great feature with the help of which you can create catalogue of your products and there is a complete dashboard that will help you keep record of sales and shipping.

Shopping cart plugin for WP ecommerce sitesWP e-Commerce

If you don’t have much money to spend on a premium shopping cart plugin then the best plugin that you can get for free is WP e-Commerce. This is a really nice fully featured shopping cart plugin that you can use very easily with WordPress. This plugin will create a very simple and easy to use shopping cart and it offers a single page checkout too which is really liked by most of the customers.

There are many other plugins that you can use to add a shopping cart to your WordPress blog but the three plugins described above are my picks for the best of all of them. If you ever want to sell something on your blog, don’t forget to use any of the above plugins.

If you know any better plugin which can add Shopping Carts in WordPress websites then do let us know in comments. Thank you.

Hi Saif, personally I like the WP E-commerce plugin best… And it is free on top of it! But the best thing about it is the single page checkout. I really hate it if you have to keep clicking through a forest of pages to get your product.
