Mobile App Development RapidSoftThere are hundreds of thousands of travel and hospitality apps across mobile app stores. With this increasing number of apps, consumers are expecting more from the hospitality industry and demanding far more features.

Many companies have now learned that their one small right or wrong step can make all the difference. So, hospitality establishments have to be very meticulous while planning apps for hotels or restaurant services.

When Developing Mobile Apps:

Always consider the following points:

  • Make your app free because your core business or service is not the selling of apps.

This is a big mistake hotels and restaurants tend to make in hospitality mobile application development. They want to earn revenue even from app downloads. If you are selling services and products other than technologies, you have to provide your app free of cost.

  • Exploit the capabilities of smartphones and tablets.

Many hotels and restaurant just duplicate their website and launch it in the form of an app – but do users really want apps in this form?  Smart devices have many interactive features which most of today’s computers don’t have. They have GPS, accelerometer, cameras, QR Code reading capability and other features which provide full support in tremendous mobile application development.

  • Fresh, updated and interesting information

Your app probably provides lots of information, but do not forget the fact that people on-the-go always want quick, interesting and accurate information. Does your app provide this?

  • Prepare a perfect plan for promoting your app

Developing and launching an app does not mean that every traveler knows about it. Form a marketing and promotion plan too. You can include a number of mediums such as on-site signage, social media, advertising, public-relation, direct mail and customer service to increase downloads.

  • Be innovative, always, in every way.

This is the first requirement to survive in the hospitality industry. You have to be creative while incorporating innovative ideas. Mobile is still a new technology do not be afraid of taking risks. Whatever you do, ensure your apps are innovative.

Hi Frida,
If we want to promote our business or want more traffic to our website/blog we should hire a developer to make an app for us. We should not try free app making website as they can’t make a professional looking app for you?

I appreciate the points which was given good and informative. In my point you can also consider some of other things below
1. Focal attention on user experience
2. Handle bandwidth and memory constraints
3. Different phones operate in different way
4. Know the client base

When I’m searching for an app to download, the 1st criteria is it must be free. If I have to pay for it, then just forget about it :)

App promotion is the toughest part now-a-days since there are lot of Apps available in the market and we must need an uniqueness to stand out from the crowd. A catchy brand name is also important as people trust them easily to use.

Thanks

I’ve really been looking at how mobile app development could play a role in our organization, but I have been really struggling coming up with an idea since I don’t even use mobile apps myself. What would you suggest for someone in my situation to do? Would asking a mobile app developer for their suggestions be the best idea or should I go ask someone else?
