Internet marketing can be the most effective and efficient strategy for start-up companies because it can help bring about greater exposure to more potential customers. It may facilitate achievement of sales and marketing goals in a shorter span of time. Needless to say, this can help bolster trade profits for the young business.

Start-ups should never hesitate to use online marketing.

It brings about an opportunity to reach out to more Internet users, who might potentially be new customers for your business. The creative outlook to use the virtual world to communicate, promote, publicize, and advertise will surely be a results-driven and effective one.

Since Internet marketing as a practice became popular, it has become an important marketing and strategic concept. It certainly works to the advantage of business expansion, providing the much-needed exposure for products and services. The huge network base on the online media is more than enough to provide a solid foundation for any start-up. That network can be utilized to the fullest capacity through numerous Internet marketing techniques, tools, and services.

ONLINE MARKETING BENEFITS

Online marketing can be of help to new businesses in many other ways. Its broad range of benefits can never be neglected. Here are some of the most impressive advantages.

  • Widen your customer base. This can be possible inexpensively on a lean budget. Potential customers can be targeted through providing accurate and helpful information, which in turn can help build the start-up credibility and reputation without the need to get deep into the business’ pockets.
  • Choose marketing strategies that can be adopted and implemented online. Start-ups can decide which of these they think can be the most appealing to prospective customers. Among the popular methodologies are:
    • email campaigning
    • search engine optimization
    • affiliate marketing
    • online promotions.
    • taking advantage of the robust popularity of social networking
  • National or International Reach: Internet marketing defies the limitations not just of budget but also of geography. A start-up can expand its marketing scope beyond its local community. New businesses can reach out to potential customers in other cities, states, or even countries at less or no cost at all.
  • Market at any hour. This form of modern marketing works 24-7. That is because the Internet never sleeps. Thus, start-ups can expect its online marketing programs to work day in and day out. It may mean more prospective customers being reached out any time of the day. Your marketing strategies can be running even on holidays and when you are not there.
  • Measurement: Lastly, Internet marketing can help start-ups in monitoring and assessing its sales tactics and performance. Online data can easily be retrieved and evaluated. A start-up can instantly shift or modify its online marketing strategy if it has not been effective. It helps that the online media facilitates speedier processing of feedback, which can be highly integral when it comes to product development.

The internet, as a marketing medium, now ranks ahead of TV, Radio and Print as the preferred marketing method for businesses, brands and organizations. Online Marketing has proven to be a targeted approach to reaching both new and existing customers.
Thanks, You’ve put together an excellent online marketing benefits list here, and I especially like the cartoon which you have presented before us.

Its a nice article on online marketing, but I have a question here, does online marketing have the ability to remove each and every retail store in the market ?

Reply

Umair Maqsood November 18, 2012 at 12:50 pm

Not Currently in fact to be fair not any time sooner. A time will come when everything would be Virtual .i.e at least the Stores and all but that will be not any time sooner. A retail store is important for the presence of a company and to gain the trust (THAT YES THERE’S AN ORGANIZATION WORKING). As time is passing by, people are getting busy in all other stuff, they don’t want to waste their time in shopping and roaming around in MALLS. So Online Marketing is a substitute for them and it will eventually be the future.

Umair, not doubt you have tracked and conquered the exact point. No doubt companies are normally not aware of what they are trying to achieve via SMO sometimes and i think this is all because of less knowloedge sharing. But the post like yours can help them grow up in a good fashion.

Keep it up!

Until a few years ago advertising was done only by big companies but today online marketing has changed the cards on the table and also even small business owners can reach a wide audience with modest investments or even without spending a dime thanks to social media.
The comic is very nice and made me laugh a lot!

Of course, startups need marketing help. And after all these years, search engine optimization still deserves a high place on the list of strategies, as you rightly point out. And everythign has to feed into the funnel of conversion. All of it is: work, measure results, back to work, keep measuring results, etc.

A very informative post. I think businesses need to realize that the Internet has simply revolutionized the way business is done and they should capitalize fully on these benefits. The world is a level playing field and the virtual office and virtual marketplace are becoming the order of the day.

Online marketing really levels the playing field and lets small business owners reach a wide audience. When in the past companies with low budgets had a minuscule range of promotion, because things like radio, television, and billboard ads were so expensive, today’s have access to resources like social media, which are free, and can reach everyone online. Online marketing has really changed the game, and it gives everyone a much stronger chance to find a market for their products or services.

I love the cartoon-I got a real laugh out of it! It seems that people think you just take a big, sloppy dive in social media, but it should be understood that you really have to develop a campaign in order to use social media to your advantage. Great post!

Although your post is right on point about the importance and prevalence of social media and Internet marketing for any business, the cartoon at the beginning rings all too true. Maybe a follow up post from you suggesting ways new business can avoid this scenario?

I think any business, not individual person, needs to have online visibility. Whether you pay for advertising online, or do it in house, with the amount of searches and purchases being done online today, you need to have an online presence for your business. I think most importantly at this time is that companies, whether small mom and pops, or fortune 500′s, need to be actively seeking internet marketing that will convert through mobile platforms.
