DoFollow Lists of Blogs, Social Networking Sites and Forums; DoFollow Search Tool; Understanding Do Follow, No Follow

UPDATED Sep 24, 2011

A DoFollow site is one that allows the search engines to follow a link from their site to yours. This increases the number of incoming links to your site, increases the likelihood that someone will locate you when searching, and improves your site’s position in the search engines. We all have a limited amount of time so why not make it count?

Focus your NEW community building in blogs that believe in dofollow! Read about How KeywordLuv Benefits us All

  • DoFollow blogs are more likely to have really active and loyal communities and commentators
  • Bloggers who believe in Do Follow are far more likely to visit and comment in YOUR blog
  • They have a positive effect on your blog’s position in search engines like Google

Do remember to maintain your involvement in any active communities you’re already visiting and keep an eye out for quality blogs and visit them even if they are not DoFollow. Then use the DoFollow Tools linked below to find new places to participate.

The use of DoFollow and plugins like CommentLuv, KeywordLuv, Lucia’s Linky Love (anyone have a link that works or know if the Lucia’s Linky Luv plugin still works?) and others is growing so spend some time and select blogs that you will really benefit from interacting with because the content they offer adds value to what you do. Implement plugins that encourage conversations.

WARNING: Some blogs that Use CommentLuv and/or KeywordLuv are No Follow. We use the Highlight NoFollow links function in the  SEOBook Toolbar to verify them. We also recommend adding your dofollow sites to and and using this Verify Dofollow service.

Some blogs do revert to no follow because it does take a little more time to manage SPAM. The lists below will contain some blogs that are not still DoFollow but they are still valuable for locating blogs. You can usually use the SEOBook SEO Toolbar to instantly see whether comment links in a blog are dofollow or nofollow. (Some sites do block this function).

Or use the DoFollow Blog Search Engine to quickly determine if blogs are really Do Follow. You can also use that tool directly to search by keyword. It returns only those blogs that are confirmed to be Do Follow at the time of your search.

Great advise and the list is very handy. Social networking and bookmarking sites do work pretty well, if you use them properly. The idea is to use them constructively and not spam each one, for most people it becomes a lot of work to manage a lot of accounts.

Thanks for your seo tools list. Best for me is: dofollow blog finder software and commenthunt.com site, but I think 50$ to sale gold version of this soft is more expensive. This same or best results is, when I use search site from your list.

Do follow blogs are good in the sense that they encourage readers (especially those that own their own sites) to engage and contribute to the conversation.

I know how hard and tedious putting these lists together are plus the fact of keeping up with them as do follow blogs switch to no follow and it becomes very time consuming but your post is one of the highest quality of all the do follow resources I have seen. Keep up the good work.

Hi GeekTool,

I approved your comment even though you put another link in it to use as an example of a better way to add links in comments. First I want to warn that some bloggers will automatically delete comments that contain any links and that includes some dofollow and CommentLuv or KeywordLuv enabled blogs.

I have no problem with commentators sharing relevant links in their comments and suggest that for maximum effectiveness for the site you are linking to that you take the time to learn how to create links with anchor text in them.

Instead of just using the URL put AFTER the URL and it will show up like this: Geek Tools

I recommend all those who leave quality, relevant links in their comments start doing this correctly. Save the entire string for your most linked posts so you can copy and paste them as you work. I put mine in a Tomboy Notes because one typo and your link won’t work and most blogs don’t have edit functionality yet.

The whole point of KeywordLuv is so you can choose the phrase and the link and don’t have to add the html to create your own links. If you just want to create one link all you have to do is put the page you want to link to in the Website field and the anchor text (best keyword phrase) you want to use in the name field like this:

YourName @ Anchor Text

That will link the page you put in the Website field from the words you put as your Anchor Text.

One of the more outstanding ideas someone has come up with – really in my eyes, when you have visitors writing well thought, and knowledgeable responses to articles, they too deserve some credibility – thanks!

Welcome Venus,

My sentiments exactly. Glad to have you here and hope you’ll be a regular reader and commentator. See the comment below for our liberal “we love relevant links” policy.

Hi Tanmay,

Many believe that avoiding dofollow and putting nofollow on links – or even refusing to link altogether – increase PageRank. While that may be true I believe that dofollow is best for the good of all and so is being generous with links. They definitely create a much stronger sense of community and far more comments.

Yeah nofollow links and blogs are garbage. I will not even comment on a “nofollow” blog, why help the blog site with content, if they give you jack in return? Thanks for the dofollow blog sir.

I have begun using keywordluv on my website, and it works really well. People write a lot of good content that gives me unique content and gives them a good backlink. A win-win for both sides. But beware, you will have to ignore / delete a lot of spam comments.
